6 Musicians Going on Tour This Spring

By Sarah Davis on March 26, 2017

“One good thing about music — when it hits, you feel no pain.” – Bob Marley

Music is one of life’s greatest pleasures. You can find solace in it when you’re blue, comfort in it when you feel alone, and boosted happiness when you’re having a great day. You associate music with memories (whether they’re good or bad). You can connect with newfound strangers and old friends alike on music that you both enjoy and on new music that you want to share.

All that is to say that listening to music is incredibly powerful. And if listening to recorded music can have such amazing effects, listening to live music with a bunch of other like-minded people can be euphoric. Concerts are amazing experiences that can make for life-long memories and a newfound appreciation for your favorite musicians.

The reasons not to attend concerts are few. Even if you’re low on money like most college students, it’s worth it to save up for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Are you convinced that attending a concert is a good move? Awesome. Now, check out the following musicians who will be making appearances across the United States this spring.

John Mayer

John Mayer has been releasing his latest album, The Search for Everything, in four-song increments. According to The Rolling Stone, the last portion will complete the 16-song album on April 14. The tour will kick off on March 31 at Madison Square Garden and commence on September 3 in Indiana, stopping at a wide range of states along the way, and even Europe! Check out all of the tour dates and stops on John Mayer’s official website.

Glass Animals

If you’re into Glass Animals, then you know that this concert would be a really good time. These four dudes from Oxford, England are currently on a massive world tour that’s visiting South America, Europe, and the U.S., and will be making their way to the States starting on April 7. Don’t miss out on a chance to feel those peanut butter vibes. Check out all of the tour dates and stops on Glass Animals’ official website.

Bastille

It’s pretty easy to be an optimist about how awesome this concert is going to be. Bastille came out with their latest album, Wild World, last September. There are tons of interesting spoken messages within the songs so I can imagine that this concert would be a wild experience.

According to Billboard, Dan Smith of the band said that they’ve been working non-stop on this album for years — and it shows. Check out all of the tour dates and stops on Bastille’s official website.

Milky Chance

Though a little bit of a lesser-known band, you’ve more than likely heard the reggae-folk duo Milky Chance’s Stolen Dance. The German guys just released a new album called Blossom, and it’s beautiful, nostalgic, and mellow. Unlike a lot of musicians in their genre of music, all of Milky Chance’s songs have tremendous lyrical depth. This concert will undoubtedly make you feel like you’re doing so good. Check out all of the tour dates and stops on Milky Chance’s official website.

PWR BTTM

Flamboyant, fearless, and funky, PWR BTTM consists of a couple of musicians who just want to make the world a better place and make everyone feel welcome. You’ve never seen anything like their NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert – and watching that alone should be enough to make you want to see them live in concert.

They’re going on tour across the UK, the United States, and Canada from April 10 through July 30, making their first stop in the U.S. on May 27 in Hawaii. Trust me when I say that you don’t want to miss this concert. Check out all of the tour dates and stops on PWR BTTM’s official website.

Kings of Leon

Kings of Leon is best known for their 2008 album Only by the Night, which featured hits such as Use Somebody and Sex on Fire. After a couple of less performant albums in the early 2010s, the band has come back into the picture with WALLS. The first single from the album, Waste a Moment, is one of the band’s most-loved songs — and according to Rolling Stone, singer Caleb Followill says that the band is in the best place that they’ve ever been. Check out all of the tour dates and stops on Kings of Leon’s official website.

In conclusion, concerts are an amazing use of your time, and their power is not to be underestimated. Whether you’re looking for something chill and mellow or something funky and flamboyant, there are tons of tours going on this spring across the United States — and one of the above musicians are bound to spark your interest. Take the chance to take part in a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity this semester and go to a concert!
