How to Make Netflix Binge-Watching More Fun
…Like that’s even possible!
From pausing the episode when you need a bathroom break to waiting for a certain scene to buffer, watching shows and movies on Netflix is more work than it seems. If you’re like me and enjoy watching a good show every now and then (or more than that), here are some things you can think about to prepare yourself for your wonderful time with Netflix.
Use Hands-Free Devices
If you’re watching on your laptop or on your phone, things could get uncomfortable after a while. I know that this won’t stop all of the watching though, so check out these tricks and handy inventions to help you enjoy your show better.
1. Selfie Stick
2. Gorone Desk
3. Mountie Clip
Okay, so yes… That is actually my selfie-stick and yes… I’ve actually tried it. I can’t take credit for the idea, and unfortunately I can’t find the source I saw it on a while back, but it really does work and make a difference! No more awkward watching angles or tired necks or arms/hands!
Utilize Streaming Services
If you want to watch on a bigger screen or even change the venue a little, try watching on a TV! Here are some ways to stream Netflix onto a bigger screen.
1. Cable connections (VGA, composite, component, or HDMI cable connection kits)
2. Streaming media players/sticks (Amazon Fire, Apple TV, Roku, Google Chromecast, etc.)
3. Gaming consoles (Xbox, PlayStation, Wii)
4. Blu-ray disc players
My favorite is the Google Chromecast. From my apartment back when I was in school to the living room with my nieces and nephews, I have been able to watch shows and movies on any screen that I’ve connected it to. Special thanks to my boyfriend for giving me my new best friend—the Chromecast and I have been inseparable ever since.
Work-Out
If you don’t want to feel like such a couch potato but still want to keep watching, try out these show-specific exercise routines! I like re-watching shows so this helps justify it (not that I need any justification for such an awesome activity). With these workouts, you won’t miss out on any of the great lines or scenes and you’ll get to exercise. I’ve only done the “One Tree Hill” versions, but trust me, I’ll be ready to move on to different shows soon.
Have quick & fun snacks
There are no commercials with Netflix so that means there are no (forced) pauses in your watching, so it may seem like a bother to get up and get something to eat or drink. If you don’t have meals ready or don’t feel like cooking, check out these meals in a mug recipes to minimize your time away from Netflix.
We can get so carried away with watching our show that we may miss meals or even forget to hydrate ourselves. Whether you are trying out these meals in a mug or not, make sure you have some water or something to munch on nearby!
Be productive
Just because you’re watching something on Netflix doesn’t mean you can’t get other things done. You can fold clothes, organize your desk, test out a new DIY project, or simply paint your nails all with the company of your favorite cast.
Hopefully these suggestions can help you have a better time with your shows! Happy watching!
