Job Description
Destination Smiles Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics is seeking an outgoing employee to be our office service dog's handler on Friday mornings from 8 am to 12 pm. Sparkles is a four-year-old female labradoodle and registered service animal. She visits our office on Friday mornings to provide joy and comfort to all our pediatric patients, particularly those who struggle with anxiety during their dental appointments.
Duties will include:
- Leading Sparkles to patients who request to see her, both in the lobby and at the patient's chair during their appointment.
- Answer questions and converse with patients and parents.
- Guide young patients about how to politely interact with Sparkles. Ensure both the patient and Sparkles have a safe and positive interaction.
- Make sure Sparkles has an adequate number of breaks, give her treats and water, and take her outside for short walks and bathroom breaks.
If you would like to work some additional hours, there are opportunities to do some light administrative work. Tasks may include filing paperwork, preparing informational packets, putting together toothbrush goodie bags that are given to patients, putting up and removing office holiday decorations, and other similar tasks. Hours for this part of the job are negotiable.

You are an energetic and outgoing person who loves children. You are great at starting and maintaining conversations, have a fun personality, and can relate and get along with many types of people and personalities. Most importantly, you love dogs!
Pay is between $17-$18 an hour.
