Shopping for furniture is such a drag and takes up loads of your free time.

First, you have to go walk around at least five furniture stores and try out all the furniture that you are looking for. Next, you have to argue with your roommates about which ones you want to get, and since you’ll all be going after different things due to prices and tastes, you won’t be able to decide for a while. Finally, you have to order the furniture, go get it, and then lug all the pieces into your house and assemble the pieces that need assembling.

That sure sounds like a lot of unnecessary work and a waste of time. And you know what? You deserve your free time! You are a hard-working college student who doesn’t need to be wasting time on all this furniture nonsense.

So why not just rent your furniture and get your free time back? Renting means that all you have to do is go online, click on the items you like, and then sit back and relax while they are delivered to you and assembled right where you want them. Here are some things that you could be doing with that free time that you wisely didn’t waste on buying furniture.

Netflix Binge

Why shop aimlessly for furniture and get all frustrated when you could be snuggled in your bed having a Netflix binge instead? There are so many shows to choose from, so whether you opt for one that is mainstream and currently all the rage on social media, or go for an oldie but a goodie (like Friends), a Netflix binge is necessary to cope with the life of a busy college student.

If you are stressed, you can choose to binge a mind numbing show where you don’t have to think at all, and if you need some excitement in your life, you can binge a thriller like How To Get Away With Murder to keep you on your toes.

The Great Outdoors

Instead of being stuck inside multiple furniture stores that are starting to make you itch from irritation, why not head outside and go on an outdoor adventure? You could Google search a hike in your area and check it out, go on a walk with some friends (furry ones included), or even opt for a peaceful picnic with a loved one. Being outside is a chance for you to soak up some sun, breathe in the fresh air, and just live in the moment.

Retail Therapy

Shopping for furniture isn’t fun, but shopping for clothes sure is. Why not hit up the thrift stores or local boutiques to spruce up your wardrobe? This is always a fun ritual to have before the start of a new semester, so grab your housemates and have some fun shopping together without the pressure that furniture shopping would have brought on.

Studying

Okay, this option might not be the most fun, but we all want to ace our classes, and it’s hard to focus on that when you are stressing about your furniture for your new place. Renting furniture and freeing up your time means that you can devote more of your time to studying and getting those grades where you need them to be. It also means that you won’t be on a time crunch and will be able to take much-needed breaks from studying.

Bake Something

Whether you are a natural in the kitchen or have never baked in your life, baking is actually a great form of stress relief; it gives you a task to focus on, and you get to eat the treats afterward! You can look up some fun recipes online or head to Trader Joe’s to try some of their great mixes if you aren’t ready to bake all the way from scratch just yet. Baking is one of those things that many students love to do; they just can’t find the time to do it.  So now is your chance! Your furniture rental freed up your schedule, so don’t waste it and get to baking ASAP.

Do Something Different

When we have free time, we usually opt to go out and do things we are used to or comfortable doing, but where is the fun in that? With your newfound freedom, you should do something you’ve never done before, or maybe something you haven’t done in forever.

Some things that come to mind would be rock climbing, ice-skating, rollerblading, or bowling. Be real, when’s the last time you’ve done any of those things? I think the last time I went rollerblading or rock climbing was when I was like 7? I’m definitely overdue for those, how about you? These throwback things/new adventures are great ways to branch out, have a fun time with your friends, and de-stress while you still can.

These are just some examples to show you that renting furniture is the way to go if you want to save time and money. Have fun!
